Straight answers

The questions owners actually ask.

Plain answers, no pitch.

What it is worth

What is my contracting business worth?

A range, not a single number. The market sets a floor and a ceiling for a business your size and trade, and three things decide where you land: what it really earns, how steady the money is, and whether it runs without you. The Read shows you in a few minutes.

Does The Read give a single number?

No. A single number pretends to a precision no one has before a deal. You get a range, built from what real specialty contractors sold for.

How do I know if it can run without me?

Look at what only you can do. The Read scores whether the crew, the contracts, and the license hold when you step back. It is the first thing a buyer checks.

Selling

Can I sell through you?

Yes. When the read says sell, we run the sale on the market-standard success fee, and half your fees credit against the deal.

Will I get the highest price?

We get you the right outcome, which is not always the highest bid. The best price you can live with the day after counts more than the biggest number on paper.

Building value

What are the pods?

Seven done-for-you engagements that raise what the business is worth, like making it run without you or defending your real earnings. Each is a flat fee. You pick the ones that add the most.

Do I have to buy pods?

No. Only if the read says build and you want the work done for you.

Cost

What does it cost?

The Seat is $8,000, $14,000, or $20,000 a year by size, billed quarterly. Pods are flat fees on top, only if you want them. Every price is on the site.

Are there hidden fees when I sell?

No. The sale fee is the market-standard scale, shown on the Selling page, and half of what you have paid us credits against the deal.

Is this for me

Is this for me?

We do our best work once yearly earnings clear about $1M. If you want a number rubber-stamped, the highest bid whatever it costs you after, or you are buying rather than selling, we are probably not your firm. We will tell you plainly.

Do you ever say don’t sell?

Yes, when that is the real answer. You pay for the Seat whatever the answer is, so nothing about the read depends on you selling. When you do sell with us, we are paid the standard fee, and half your fees credit against the deal.
